Spiritual Gifts for the Body of Christ: 1 Corinthians 12.4-12

4 There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; 5 there are different forms of service but the same Lord; 6 there are different workings but the same God who produces all of them in everyone. 7 To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit. 8 To one is given through the Spirit the expression of wisdom; to another the expression of knowledge according to the same Spirit; 9 to another faith by the same Spirit; to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit; 10 to another mighty deeds; to another prophecy; to another discernment of spirits; to another varieties of tongues; to another interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit produces all of these, distributing them individually to each person as he wishes. 12 As a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body, so also Christ.

  1. LITURGICAL COMMITTEE

Composed of parishioners of Notre Dame Church representing the following ministries of our faith community. Meetings are held every second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm in the Council Room. The goal is to build a church of communion while still adhering to the rituals of liturgy as per the guidelines in the General Instruction of the Roman Missal. We strive to have full, conscious and active participation of all parishioners. New members to the ministries are always welcomed.

CONTACT: Chairperson, Joanne Petrisano. Concerns re: Liturgy may be directed to Joanne or Father Stan.

  2. ALTAR SERVERS

Led and trained by adults, our young people serve the Mass and other liturgical celebrations, enhancing our prayers and devotions to God.

  3. ALTAR GUILD

Members are responsible for the linens used for the Liturgy of the Eucharist, an important behind the scenes job.

SATURDAY Liturgy - Pat Neskar with assistance from A.J. Lawson.

  5. MINISTRY OF COMMUNION

The ministers of Holy Communion assist the priest in the distribution of the "Body and Blood" of Christ during the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Also they take communion to the sick, to homebound parishioners, and those in the three personal care homes and two hospitals in Selkirk.

  6. MINISTRY OF THE WORD

These ministers PROCLAIM the Word of God to the gathered assembly. This includes the Gathering Rite, the Scripture Reading from both the Old and New Testaments and the Prayers of the Faithful.

  7. MINISTRY OF HOSPITALITY

They welcome with a smile parishioners and visitors as they arrive for worship. They hand out bulletins, help with the offertory collection, and with cleaning/closing up after Mass.

  8. SACRISTAN

This ministry involves a team of parishioners who prepare for and provide good order for the celebration of the Liturgy. They ensure that liturgical supplies are available, and provide maintenance of the sanctuary, sacristy, sacred vessels, vestments, candles, and sound system. They also ensure that the doors are open to the parishioners for Mass and everything is in place for the presiding priest.

CONTACT: Joe Kolbuch with assistance from Gary Allard, Joanne Petrisano, Fiona Lawson.

  9. MINISTRY OF LITURGICAL ENVIRNONMENT

The liturgical environment encompasses the whole worship space. This therefore changes to reflect the Liturgical calendar: Advent, Christmas, Ordinary Time I [during winter], Lent, Triduum, Eastertime, and Ordinary Time II [during summer and autumn]. This is achieved by the use of colour, linens, plants and flowers. The environment is kept simple and clean thus keeping the focus on the Liturgy and the Eucharist.

    CONTACT: Joanne Petrisano.
